Barn Owl • Deep Roots, Ancient Memory
A special woodland talisman featuring a little Barn Owl, hand painted onto a wooden mushroom in soft woodland greens, warm earthy browns and gold. Around the mushroom I have painted small leaves and folk art markings, continuing the design around the whole piece.
Beneath the mushroom is a natural tree seed bead and a wonderfully textured tree pearl. I love using these little growths from the trees, as no two are ever quite the same.
The complete talisman measures approximately 10 cm long.
It comes with a hand painted river stone, approximately 5.5 × 5.5 cm, carrying my seventh circuit labyrinth in gold. Around the edge I have written in Theban script:
“Deep roots, ancient memory.”
Barn Owl, mushroom, seed and tree pearl all belong to that quieter world beneath the woodland canopy, where generations of growth and decay return again and again to the earth. The labyrinth carries the same sense of returning, following an old path inward and back out again.
