Shamanic Totem Talisman Pendant
Created from a piece of naturally shed reindeer antler, this talisman brings together some of the animals and markings that return again and again within my work: Raven, Stag, the old tree and the spiral.
I have painted the antler by hand in deep earthy reds, black, ochre and bone white, allowing the natural shape and markings of the antler to remain part of the piece. Raven sits amongst the branches of the old tree while the pale Stag stands alongside, antlers rising into the markings above.
For me these are creatures of the old paths. Raven carries the mystery of what lies beyond ordinary sight, while Stag belongs to the deep woodland, instinct and the wild ancestral self. Between them stands the tree, its roots and branches joining earth and sky.
Above the antler I have added two natural tree seed beads, giving the finished talisman an even stronger connection to the woodland and the living earth.
The natural shed reindeer antler measures approximately 10 × 3 cm, with a total hanging length of approximately 15 cm including the seed beads.
A one-of-a-kind talisman, made to hang in a personal sacred space, beside a doorway, amongst gathered natural objects, or simply somewhere its presence feels right.
