The Lady of the Greening
She rises where the deep roots drink
from the dark memory of earth.
Eyes closed, she listens to the slow breathing of soil , to the stir of seeds,
the quiet work of worms,
the first green fire moving through wood.
A blackbird calls from the crown of her mind,
carrying the bright note of returning light.
The hare runs through the living roots,
quick heart of the waking fields.
Within her chest a nest is held,
sky-blue eggs cradled in woven time,
the promise of wing and song.
She is not ruler of the forest.
She is the forest remembering itself,
sap rising, moss greening,
the old earth opening
once more to the sun.
