Wildwood Dream

by Beth Wildwood

In the hush of the dusk where the trees hold breath,

She rises — bone, branch, and shadow-wreathed flesh.

Antlered and ancient, the mother of flame,

She carries the labyrinth etched in her name.

Her fingers are roots that beckon the moon,

Her chest hums the echo of raven’s tune.

Wolf pads beside her, silent and still,

Deer move like smoke over valley and hill.

She is the threshold, the song of the seam,

Where spirit and leaf intertwine in dream.

Her cloak is the dark that remembers your name,

Her voice is the wind that cannot be tamed.

Come, wanderer, hush — lay your sorrow down.

Enter the spiral, the earth-made crown.

Beneath her boughs the dreamfire burns —

The Wildwood calls, and the old path turns.
